I ordered two Max crates of kiln dried birch from Ambiance Wood Burners. The delivery was on time. Unfortunately when I checked the moisture content of the wood it was all between 0% and 1%. I have never seen firewood this dry before and so I checked the readings with two other moisture meters. According to stove manufacturers: "Can firewood be too dry? While it’s essential to avoid using wet firewood, excessively dry firewood can also pose challenges. Extremely dry firewood burns quickly and can lead to an overly hot fire that may damage your fireplace or wood stove and is likely to be uncomfortable for you and your family. The best way to check if certain firewood is too dry is with a moisture meter as it will give you an easy-to-read percentage – anything less than 15% is too dry." I rang Ambiance Wood Burners and was basically told to suck it up. This wood is way too dry and shatters when chopped. Basically, I have bought a life-time's supply of kindling (1.98 tonnes).
